Sophia Zaccaron nasce a Conegliano nel 1991 e si diploma in Design Industriale all’Istituto d’Arte di Vittorio Veneto.
Cresce in un clima culturalmente vivace dove si intrecciano tutte le arti, da quelle figurative con pittura, scultura e fotografia, fino alle arti performative approcciandosi quindi agli ambienti teatrali e musicali. Crescendo sviluppa, attraverso un percorso introverso, le proprie doti creative di cui dimostra essere ricca fin in tenera età.
Incoraggiata dal frequente contatto con figure portanti del mondo culturale contemporaneo, Sophia impara a frequentare autonomamente gli ambienti ed i circuiti del mondo artistico, iniziando a maturare un proprio stile poliedrico.
Nel 2005 a soli 14 anni, collaborando con l’artista Luca Bonetti e Claudia Azzalini, vince il concorso ArtInIce a Livigno (SO) realizzando “Zen Zen”, scultura interamente in ghiaccio alta 4 metri raffigurante un buddha a tre teste.
Il premio attira l’attenzione della stampa locale facendo guadagnare a Sophia i primi riconoscimenti pubblici del suo potenziale artistico.
Nel 2009 partecipa al concorso “Seconda vita all’imballo” indetto da Electrolux (PN) dove conquista il premio speciale, l’azienda darà seguito commerciale all’idea di Sophia.
L’ opera “Ricordi di violenza” viene pubblicata nel catalogo “A’ Rebours” della Biennale Giovani di Trento del 2012 nella quale espone due elaborati.
Dimostrando la sua versatilità artistica, produce prototipi di borse handmade con l’uso del tipico pezzotto Valtellinese. La collezione di borse viene considerata innovativa, tanto che il quotidiano “La Provincia di Sondrio” le dedica a pagina intera un articolo dettagliato.
Durante la 57° rassegna Internazionale d’Arte contemporanea Biennale di Venezia partecipa con lo staff dell’artista statunitense Anna Halprin alla Performance “Planetary Dance”.
La sua sensibilità volge in tutte le direzioni, tanto da spingerla ad essere parte attiva in diverse associazioni artistiche e culturali dislocate in tutto il territorio Italiano, inizia anche un percorso da attrice che la porta a esibirsi in numerosi teatri e set cinematografici in tutta Italia. Entra a far parte come socia e consulente artistica nell’Associazione Culturale Ambriajazz, dove alcuni musicisti di vario genere scelgono la sua arte come copertina per i loro progetti musicali.
Approda nel mese di dicembre 2017 nella Città di Marino (Roma) con una sua opera alla rassegna d’Arte Soul’s Messengers, patrocinata dall’Accademia Internazionale Città di Roma ed ospitata nello storico Palazzo Colonna, sede municipale.
A giugno 2018 Gutemberg Edizioni stampa un catalogo d’arte contemporanea dove è presente il dipinto “mare” di Sophia.
A giugno 2018 in collaborazione con Spoleto Arte, partecipa con una sua opera a “Io, La mia arte” collettiva di pittura, scultura e fotografia presentata da Vittorio Sgarbi presso Artemente Gallery a Jesolo; nello stesso mese con Accademia dei Partenopei di Napoli, prende parte all’iniziativa Arte Firenze, collettiva d’arte contemporanea. Espone due opere all’interno del prestigioso Auditorium al Duomo, Firenze.
Nel mese di agosto 2018 partecipa alla collettiva d’Arte “Scarpatetti” a Sondrio e nella stessa settimana espone nel prestigioso Palazzo Tanzarella di Ostuni (Brindisi), nella mostra d’Arte Contemporanea “Pure White” con la mostra “Picasso, L’Altra Metà del Cielo”.
Una sua opera è in esposizione permanente alla Galleria d’Arte Contemporanea Antica Saliera di Lecce.
A settembre 2018 partecipa al “Premio Mestre di Pittura” e negli stessi giorni entra in classifica come finalista in Arte al Premio Accademico Internazionale di Poesia e Arte Contemporanea Apollo dionisiaco Roma 2018, dove le viene scritta e dedicata una critica in semiotica estetica dell’opera “Hallucination”.
A ottobre viene invitata a partecipare al “Premio Internazionale Arte Laguna” di Venezia dove presenta due installazioni di cui una interattiva, un dipinto e un cortometraggio.
A dicembre 2018 espone a Vittorio Veneto la sua prima mostra personale e durante il vernissage dipinge, sotto gli occhi di tutti i presenti, un’opera che nasce direttamente in quel momento sulle note della musica suonata dal vivo. Molti invitati si sono emozionati e descrivono l’evento come unico e irripetibile.
A segnare il nuovo anno esce in Russia, sul mensile d’Arte e Spettacolo RussiaPrivet, un articolo che parla di Sophia e la sua arte in modo completo, con ben tredici fotografie di rispettive sue opere.
A febbraio poi, viene invitata a esporre alla Galleria Art Luxury di Milano per un’altra sua mostra personale.
Nel mese di marzo 2019 invece, due suoi dipinti si spostano fuori dall’Italia per partecipare a una mostra d’Arte Contemporanea Internazionale a Barcellona, formata da soli dieci artisti in tutto il mondo; Sophia sarà l’unica Italiana.
Finalmente nel luglio 2019 Sophia riesce a coronare il suo sogno portando una sua opera alla Biennale Internazionale d’arte di Venezia, esponendo nel padiglione del Bangladesh a Palazzo Zenobio.
A ottobre dello stesso anno espone a Bellinzago Novarese all’interno del prestigioso castello di Cavagliano per la Prima Mostra Internazionale di selezione per la biennale di Roma in Piemonte. Durante un vernissage a Roma incontra il critico d’arte Claudio Strinati che ha modo di vedere le opere di Sophia e ne rimane affascinato, le augura il meglio e si complimenta con lei per la sua ricerca e il suo percorso artistico.
Nel dicembre 2019 partecipa alla collettiva NVMEN Art Prize presso la NVMEN ArtGallery che si affaccia sul Colosseo.
Negli stessi giorni Sophia riceve l’invito a partecipare con due opere alla The Room Exhibition XMAS Edition che si svolge presso Bauhaus Home Gallery, accreditata come spazio espositivo Rome Art Week e Open Gallery Biennale di Roma 2019.
Nello stesso periodo espone anche nel centro storico di Lecce nella mostra “Nel Buio”: Percorso espositivo sensoriale, all’interno del prestigioso Spazio Museale Ex Conservatorio Sant’Anna. Iniziativa molto particolare che prevede la fruizione delle opere in assenza di luce quindi con l’utilizzo degli altri sensi.
Per aprire il 2020 Sophia viene invitata a presentare due personali a Roma: nei primi giorni di gennaio all’AlexanderPlatz Jazz Club, nel secondo periodo dello stesso mese al NVMEN ArtGallery dove porterà 32 opere in vendita. Questa seconda esposizione personale si è successivamente trasformata in “L’Arte Contro il Virus” e le opere sono tutt’ora esposte e in vendita a prezzi agevolati per contrastare la paura del virus con il colore. Oggi sono esposte anche le opere inedite create durante la quarantena.
La sua principale ricerca pittorica si basa sullo studio della luce e del colore in base allo spessore: i suoi quadri sono “vivi” perché a seconda della luce che ricevono cambiano radicalmente. L’uso che fa dell’oro richiama l’usanza giapponese che prende il nome di Kintsugi dove si va a riparare un oggetto, solitamente in ceramica, con l’ oro per dare valore allo stesso. Per l’artista questo va a “riparare” l’anima dove è stata ferita dando valore all’esperienza. Le piace lavorare in grande e spaziare con gli occhi nel dipinto, la stessa creazione diventa performance perché lavora il gesso direttamente con le mani e il corpo, questo diventa un’esperienza sensoriale che la collega direttamente all’opera, diventando essa stessa un prolungamento della sua anima. Il Critico d’arte e Assessore alla cultura Antonella Uliana ha scritto un bellissimo testo sul suo percorso artistico che nasce fin da quando era bambina.
Pioggia sul Tevere a giugno 2020, partecipa alla video-esposizione PitturiAmo dove l’opera viene video-proiettata nella galleria White Space Chelsea a Manhattan, nel cuore di NEW YORK. In questa occasione partecipa ad un concorso d’arte internazionale.
Nel 2020 durante il periodo di quarantena causato dall’emergenza sanitaria Covid-19, Sophia aumenta la sua produzione artistica creando opere totalmente nuove. La sua ricerca artistica dunque si sposta, esplorando forme e volumi del tutto estranei alla stessa, trovando un suo stile ancora diverso. Grazie a questa novità, l’opera “Porta” viene proposta alla Nona Edizione del Premio Francesco Fabbri per le Arti Contemporanee 2020 che si terrà nei mesi invernali a Pieve di Soligo (TV).
Nel maggio 2021 durante la gravidanza, Sophia sperimenta metodi ancora diversi per comunicare, decide infatti di scrivere e dipingere in toto, un libro per bambini dedicandolo a suo figlio prossimo alla nascita. Proporrà il suo progetto ad una casa editrice.
A giugno 2021 Sophia espone una sua mostra personale nel centro storico di Roma, a Trastevere.
Dopo la nascita di suo figlio Valerio, Sophia decide di chiudere l’anno esponendo a Dubai all’Italian Vanity Art Exhibition.
Sophia decide di donare, per la sua rielezione, l’Opera Mine&Miners al Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella.
Con l’arrivo del suo secondo figlio Davide, Sophia entra in contatto con Zerocalcare e, con lui e molti altri importanti fumettisti, pubblica sulla rivista AntiFa!nzine, movimento antifascista solidale nato nei centri sociali.
A gennaio 2023 Sophia realizza, per i musicisti jazz Daniele Cordisco e il prestigioso contrabbassista Ron Carter, la copertina del loro ultimo album, pubblicato dall’etichetta Nuccia.

Sophia Zaccaron was born in Conegliano Italy in 1991 and graduated in Industrial Design at the Art Institute of Vittorio Veneto.
She grew up in a culturally lively climate where all the arts were intertwined, from figurative arts with painting, sculpture and photography to the performing arts and then approaching the theatrical and musical worlds. Growing up, through an introverted path, she developed her creative talents, which she proved to be rich in from an early age.
Encouraged by the frequent contact with leading figures of the contemporary cultural world, Sophia learns to frequent the circles and circuits of the artistic world independently, beginning to develop her own multifaceted style.
In 2005, when she was only 14 years old, working with the artist Luca Bonetti and Claudia Azzalini, she won the ArtInIce competition in Livigno (SO), creating “Zen Zen”, a 4-metre-high sculpture made entirely of ice depicting a three-headed Buddha.
The prize attracted the attention of the local press, earning Sophia her first public recognition of her artistic potential.
In 2009 she took part in the competition ‘”Seconda vita all’imballo”’ (Second Life to Packaging) organised by Electrolux (PN) where she won the special prize, the company will give a commercial follow-up to Sophia’s idea.
Her work “Ricordi di violenza” (Memories of violence) was published in the catalogue “A’ Rebours” of the Biennale Giovani in Trento in 2012, where she exhibited two works.
Demonstrating her artistic versatility, she produces prototypes of handmade bags using the typical pezzotto Valtellinese. The collection of bags is considered innovative, so much so that the daily newspaper ‘La Provincia di Sondrio’ devotes a full-page article to it.
During the 57th International Exhibition of Contemporary Art Biennale in Venice, she took part in the performance “Planetary Dance” with the American artist Anna Halprin.
Her sensitivity took her in all directions, so much so that she became an active part of various artistic and cultural associations throughout Italy. She also began her career as an actress, performing in numerous theatres and film sets throughout Italy. She became a member and artistic consultant of the Ambriajazz Cultural Association, where several musicians of various genres chose her art as the cover for their musical projects.
In December 2017 she arrived in the city of Marino (Rome) with one of her works at the art exhibition Soul’s Messengers, sponsored by the International Academy of the City of Rome and hosted in the historic Palazzo Colonna, the city hall.
In June 2018, Gutemberg Edizioni prints a contemporary art catalogue featuring Sophia’s painting “sea”.
In June 2018, in collaboration with Spoleto Arte, she took part with one of her works in “Io, La mia arte”, a collective exhibition of painting, sculpture and photography presented by Vittorio Sgarbi at Artemente Gallery in Jesolo; in the same month, with Accademia dei Partenopei in Naples, she took part in Arte Firenze, a collective exhibition of contemporary art. She exhibits two works inside the prestigious Auditorium al Duomo, Florence.
In August 2018 she took part in the “Scarpatetti” art collective in Sondrio and in the same week she exhibited in the prestigious Palazzo Tanzarella in Ostuni (Brindisi), in the “Pure White” contemporary art exhibition with the show “Picasso, L’Altra Metà del Cielo”.
One of her works is on permanent display at the Antica Saliera Contemporary Art Gallery in Lecce.
In September 2018 she participates in the “Premio Mestre di Pittura” and in the same days she enters the ranking as a finalist in Art at the International Academic Prize for Poetry and Contemporary Art Apollo Dionisiaco Rome 2018, where a critique in aesthetic semiotics of the work “Hallucination” is written and dedicated to her.
In October she is invited to participate in the “Premio Internazionale Arte Laguna” in Venice where she presents two installations, one of which is interactive, a painting and a short film.
In December 2018 she exhibited her first solo exhibition in Vittorio Veneto and during the vernissage she painted, in front of the eyes of all those present, a work that was created directly at that moment on the notes of music played live. Many guests were moved and described the event as unique and unrepeatable.
To mark the new year, an article about Sophia and her art was published in the Russian monthly magazine RussiaPrivet, with thirteen photographs of her respective works.
In February, she was invited to exhibit at the Art Luxury Gallery in Milan for another solo show.
In March 2019, however, two of her paintings participate in an International Contemporary Art exhibition in Barcelona, consisting of only ten artists worldwide; Sophia will be the only Italian.
Finally in July 2019 Sophia was able to fulfil her dream by taking one of her works to the Venice International Art Biennale, exhibiting in the Bangladesh pavilion at Palazzo Zenobio.
In October of the same year she exhibited in Bellinzago Novarese inside the prestigious castle of Cavagliano for the First International Selection Exhibition for the Rome Biennial in Piedmont. During a vernissage in Rome she meets the art critic Claudio Strinati who has the opportunity to see Sophia’s works and is fascinated by them, wishes her the best and compliments her for her research and her artistic path.
In December 2019, she participates in the NVMEN Art Prize group show at the NVMEN ArtGallery overlooking the Colosseum.
In the same days Sophia receives an invitation to participate with two works in The Room Exhibition XMAS Edition taking place at Bauhaus Home Gallery, accredited as Rome Art Week and Open Gallery Biennale di Roma 2019 exhibition space.
In the same period she also exhibits in the historical centre of Lecce in the exhibition “Nel Buio”: A sensory exhibition itinerary inside the prestigious Spazio Museale Ex Conservatorio Sant’Anna. This is a very special initiative that involves viewing the works in the absence of light and therefore using the other senses.
To open the year 2020, Sophia was invited to present two solo exhibitions in Rome: in the first days of January at the AlexanderPlatz Jazz Club, and in the second period of the same month at the NVMEN ArtGallery, where she brought 32 works for sale. This second solo exhibition was later transformed into “Art Against the Virus” and the works are still on display and on sale at reduced prices to counter the fear of the virus with colour. Unpublished works created during the quarantine are also on display today.
Her main pictorial research is based on the study of light and colour based on thickness: his paintings are “alive” because they change radically depending on the light they receive. The use of gold recalls the Japanese custom known as Kintsugi, in which an object, usually ceramic, is repaired with gold to give it value. For the artist, this “repairs” the soul where it has been wounded, giving value to the experience. She likes to work large and sweep her eyes through the painting, the creation itself becomes a performance because she works the plaster directly with her hands and body, this becomes a sensory experience that connects her directly to the work, becoming itself an extension of her soul. Art critic and culture councillor Antonella Uliana has written a beautiful text on her artistic career, which began when she was a child.
“Raining on the Tiber” took part in June 2020 at the PitturiAmo video exhibition where her work was video-projected in the White Space Chelsea gallery in Manhattan, in the heart of NEW YORK. On this occasion she took part in an international art competition.
In 2020, during the quarantine period caused by the Covid-19 health emergency, Sophia increased her artistic production by creating totally new works. Her artistic research thus shifted, exploring shapes and volumes that were completely foreign to her, finding her own style. Thanks to this novelty, the work “Porta” is proposed at the Ninth Edition of the Premio Francesco Fabbri per le Arti Contemporanee 2020 which will be held in the winter months in Pieve di Soligo (TV).
In May 2021, during her pregnancy, Sophia experiments with yet another way of communicating. She decides to write and paint a children’s book dedicated to her soon-to-be-born son. She will propose her project to a publisher.
In June 2021 Sophia held a solo exhibition in the historic centre of Rome, in Trastevere.
After the birth of her son Valerio, Sophia decided to close the year with an exhibition in Dubai at the Italian Vanity Art Exhibition.
Sophia decides to donate, for her re-election, the work Mine&Miners to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.
With the arrival of her second son Davide, Sophia comes into contact with Zerocalcare and, with him and many other important cartoonists, publishes in the magazine AntiFa!nzine, a solidarity-based anti-fascist movement born in social centres.
In January 2023, Sophia designed the cover of their latest album, published by the Nuccia label, for jazz musicians Daniele Cordisco and the prestigious double bass player Ron Carter.
